Before you retire to your cottage for the night, finish your day out in Whitby with a scenic dog walk.

Beck Hole walk is short and flat, and accessible for wheelchairs too. The thirty-minute walk takes you by the riverbank, where your dog can dip his paws and refresh himself on a hot summer’s day.

Along the way, you may also spot the Grosmont-Pickering steam train or a deer in the fields.

If you are keen for a longer hike, extend your walk by starting in Grosmont.

The trail begins in the woodland and continues through Doctor’s Wood and Crag Cliff Wood.

Beck Hole is the halfway point before you reach the Murk Esk waters.

Alternatively, you and your pooch can jump in the car and head to Goathland moors and waterfalls, which are a short twenty-minute drive away from Whitby. The six-mile walk stretches across open moorlands and fields.

Soak up the surroundings at the stunning Water Arc Foss and Mallyan Spout waterfalls.

End the walk by passing through Scar Wood, and head back to your cottages for a cup of tea and a treat for your dog.
