Privacy Policy

At Shoreline we are committed to keeping information about you private. We only use the information we collect about you to process your reservations and to keep you informed of special offers and any news about Shoreline. We will only use the information that we collect about you in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998).

What information do we collect and how do we use it?

When you place a reservation, it is vital that we know your name, email address, postal address, credit/debit card number, security code and expiry date. This allows us to process and to notify you of the status of your reservation. We also ask for your telephone number that enables us to contact you if we have a query regarding your reservation and your mobile telephone number should we need to contact you prior to arrival or during your stay.

We also may ask whether you take children or pets on holiday with you, the size of property you require and whether you visit Whitby regularly. This helps us to target special offers to those who are happy to be informed of them.

When you subscribe to our email newsletter we use the information collected to periodically inform you about news and special offers that we think you might find interesting. If you would rather not receive this information, simply click the “unsubscribe” link within the email.

How do we protect your information?

When you provide your credit card details, we use a secure server that encrypts the data using a ‘Secure Socket Layer’ session. SSL is an industry standard and is one of the best ways to ensure Internet messages cannot easily be read as they travel over the Internet. Please be aware that older browsers cannot use SSL and to be sure, you will need Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers, Version 3 or above.

We do not record your credit card details anywhere that is accessible over the Internet. They are kept only for the purpose of obtaining balances (with consent) and charging for additional services that you might request.

What about “cookies”?

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer’s hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information but they do enable us to keep track of which parts of the site you are viewing. These cookies are only temporary and are deleted when you leave the Shoreline web site.

Will you disclose the information you collect to third parties?

Shoreline does not sell, trade or rent any personal information to any third party. Should this policy change you will be informed and your permission asked for before sharing any of your personal information.

If we are required by law or legal process to provide information about you, we will co-operate fully and supply the requested details.

Can I find out about how you use my information in more detail?

If you have any requests concerning your personal information retained by Shoreline or any questions about this privacy policy, please email to and we will respond within three working days. At Shoreline we are committed to keeping information about you private.
