Do you long for somewhere you can completely escape to and switch off? The Anchorage is pleasantly out-of-the way, halfway between Whitby and Staithes and boasts unbeatable sea views.Add to shortlist Share
When it was built 200 years ago, The Anchorage would have been utterly isolated with just the sea breeze and hedgerow wildlife for company. Today, not a great deal has changed. This cosy cottage has a handful more neighbours, but remains delightfully remote for a peaceful short break.
Traditionally styled, The Anchorage is two-storey and semi-detached, with three bedrooms insulated by thick walls. Up to six of you (plus two dogs) can hide away from the world or open the door to stunning scenery and seascape sunrises. The couple bagging the master bedroom gets the best views; those sharing the family bathroom are rewarded with a bath and shower; and the kids will be more than happy in their own snug kitted out with beanbags and a TV.
You’ll find the kitchen diner has every required facility including a dishwasher. A wood-burning stove takes centre stage in the sitting room; curl up to watch your favourite TV shows or venture out the front to enjoy the sunsets while sitting on the bench with a glass of wine - bliss! There’s Wi-Fi and phone signal but it’s conveniently intermittent – a good excuse not to be frequently disturbed!

The Local Area
You might think seclusion comes at a price, but The Anchorage is far from cut-off. There’s parking for at least two cars and a pleasant ride gets you to Whitby or Staithes. Kettleness sticks out on a peninsular so you can walk north along the Cleveland Way (just yards from the cottage) round Runswick Bay, or head south to Sandsend. Dogs may exercise on the front and side lawns, but keep an eye open to ensure they don’t roam off.
Please note that the exact location of the property may differ slightly from the map.
