Whitby in Autumn
Whitby in Autumn
Autumn is a fantastic time to get out and about to explore some of the most beautiful and scenic coastal, woodland and moorland walks into the Whitby area. The sun’s gentle rays picking out the reds, golds and purples of the leaves in the woodlands and forests, and there is something very pleasurable about kicking your way through fallen leaves as you stroll along. It’s also a great time for embracing the onset of winter with an invigorating walk along the cliff tops. Of course, it can get a bit chilly, but there are always plenty of cosy cafes to warm you through with a steaming cuppa and a hot snack.
Whether you just fancy a stroll along the beach or a more challenging coastal path walk, it is an ideal opportunity to take in the sea air, blow the cobwebs away and enjoy what nature has to offer. It’s a good idea to take a camera or mobile phone with you to capture the wildlife, the vibrant colours or maybe even a few fossils along the beach.
Dalby Forest
A little further afield you can take a walk through Dalby Forest. Here there are many trails to follow for walkers of all abilities, including cycle tracks and a Gruffalo trail for young children https://www.forestryengland.uk/dalby-forest
The Yorkshire Arboretum at Castle Howard
