Illuminated Whitby Abbey

Each year, for just one week, Whitby Abbey is illuminated with a breath-taking display of light and colour, highlighting the magnificent ruin that inspired Bram Stoker. The lighting also shows up a great many features that you otherwise would not be able to see.

As you explore its Gothic splendour you can listen to tales from Count Dracula and bump into a coven of witches roaming about the ruins. Meet a sinister witch-finder and learn about the devious tricks of his trade.

Before you make your way back down to the town you can take a look around the ‘Historical Traders Market’, get a hot drink and a bite to eat or buy spooky souvenirs.

Even if you decide that the ‘entertainment’ is not for you then you can simply enjoy the view of the Abbey from down in the town.  Illuminated, it is simply a spectacular sight.
