Food Festival season is nearly upon us and there are a few taking place in Whitby and the surrounding area. We’ve put together our suggestions for food and drink festivals within an hour’s drive of Whitby for you. Hopefully you’ll find one (or more) that will tickle your tastebuds! Fish & Ships Festival, Whitby – 20-21 May 2023
A celebration of our coast’s maritime culture and amazing seafood and local produce. Over the weekend you will find various displays, activities, cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs in the festival kitchen, fish filleting and crab dressing demonstrations by local fishermen, live music, children’s activities and much more.
Malton Food Lovers Festival – 27-28 May 2023 and 26-27 August 2023
Take a ride out to Malton and enjoy a celebration of Yorkshire’s finest produce. Set around the streets you’ll find artisan stalls, delicious street food, talks, tastings, celebrity chefs, demos, festival bar and live music.
The Filey International Food Festival – 10-11 June 2023, 12-13 August 2023 and 14-15 October 2023
Sample a host of fabulous food from local producers, cookery demos from local chefs, live music, beer, fun fair and much more.
Saltburn Monthly Farmers Market & Food Festival – July 2023 (Exact date to be confirmed for the Festival)
Saltburn’s monthly farmers’ market is worth a visit, starting Saturday May 14, then every following month. The Annual Festival in July is an extension of the monthly market with the addition of special guest chefs in the live cookery theatre, children’s cookery workshops in the Family Kitchen, and beer festival. Keep an eye on their website for the confirmation of the exact date.
Saltburn Farmers Market & Festival
Seafest, Food Festival, Scarborough – 14-16 July 2023
A small food festival held as part of Scarborough’s maritime heritage celebrations. Sample the food stalls and enjoy free seafood cookery demos in the Seafest Food Theatre with top Yorkshire chefs, live music, street entertainment and fairground rides.
Whitby & District Lions Annual Charity Beer Festival – 27 – 30 July 2023
Based at The Whitby Mission & Seafarers Centre, over 30 real ales, ciders and perries to sample from local and regional microbreweries, with all proceeds going to local charities. Plenty of local food too.
