Cycling News – Tour of Britain 2022

This year, in September, the Tour of Britain cycle race is set to pass through Whitby on the 4th Stage of the race.

The race will take place from Sunday 4 to Sunday 11 September 2022, with the Grand Depart commencing in Aberdeen.

The cyclists will pass through Hawick on the Scottish borders, Durham and Sunderland then down to Redcar for the start of the 4th Stage.

Stage 4, on 7th September, starts from Redcar and will pass through Saltburn-by-the-Sea, down to Whitby and on to the North York Moors National Park, then finishing at the historic house, Duncombe Park in Helmsley.

The race will then make its way down the country with the final stage taking place on the Isle of Wight.

This will be the first time in 13 years that a stage of the Tour of Britain has passed through North Yorkshire. The riders have a 150 km (93 miles) stage to cover in North Yorkshire with 2600m of difficult climbs, and lots of downhill twists and turns, which will offer spectators some exciting action.
