As you explore its gothic splendour, costumed characters will introduce the darker side of the past.  A Victorian Undertaker and the ‘Resurrection Man’ will be there to tell grizzly tales of the dark side and grave robbing.  And of course, you will hear the story of Count Dracula, brought to life by Bram Stoker back in the late 1800’s.

Before you make your way back down to the town you can take a look around the ‘Historical Traders Market’, get a hot drink and a bite to eat or buy spooky souvenirs.

This may all be a bit too gruesome for the younger members of the family, but English Heritage have also organised some Half-Term fun at the Abbey for the kids too. From Saturday 21 October – Sunday 5 November 2017 they can hear spooky tales and head out on a Halloween challenge trail, follow clues and keep their eyes peeled for creepy cut outs about the site.

Even if you decide that this type of entertainment is not for you then you can simply enjoy the view of the Abbey from down in the town.  Illuminated, it is simply spectacular.
