Whitby To Host Sandcastle Building Competition This Weekend!
Grab your bucket and spade and pit your sandcastle building skills in a host of sandy challenges this weekend.
Summer is finally here, and to get you in the mood for the coming months of seasides and sunshine, Whitby are hosting the annual sandcastle building competition as part of the Love Architecture Festival, this weekend!
Dust off your bucket and spade, gather your friends and head for the stunning shores of the Yorkshire coast this Sunday (30th June) to join the fun. Teams of up to 6 can put their sand construction skills to the test, with the free event beginning at 1pm before judging by Whitby Mayor; John Freeman takes place at 3:30pm.
Organised by local architect Sarah Stead, the event promises to be a fun day out for all of the family, with those who possess the best sand castle creativity being crowned winners in the Whitby’s Love Sandcastles Challenge – a title that most would cherish!
The sandcastle competition categories include the most ambitious, tallest structure, people’s choice and perhaps the most sought after award, best overall castle.
So what are you waiting for? Get your luxury holiday cottage booked with Shoreline Cottages, and head down to the left side of the harbour just after the slip way for an afternoon of friendly fun and light competition! As the perfect way to kick start your summer, a weekend break in Whitby offers something for every holiday maker, from countryside walks through to beach bathing and ghost hunting.
