One of the many factors that Whitby prides itself on is the fact that is it of course that is hosts some of the spookiest venues complete with a dark and mysterious past. One of Whitby’s perhaps most famous accolade is it’s involvement with one of the darkest, most famous novels ever written, Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

To celebrate this, Whitby holds a number of events to suit every age and preference over the Halloween period for a truly thrilling experience. Whether you seek heavy music, ghost and ghoul hunts or a collection of some truly terrifying horror movies, Whitby has it all this Halloween.

Time Travellers Go…Ghosts and Ghouls

Climb up to the eerie abbey from the 27th of October through to the 4th of November for some festive fun for all the family. Events will include crafts and various other child-friendly activities, complete with some spooky ghost hunts around the abbey throughout each day, between 11am and 4pm. Ticket prices vary between ages and heritage and non-heritage members, with an addition £1 entry for all admissions to assist funding for next year’s events.

Dracula at Night

Running from the 1st through to the 3rd of November, Dracula at night offers a terrifying, yet exhilarating experience for both families and horror fans alike. Bram Stoker’s chilling novel, Dracula is brought to life by 4 actors ready to make your Halloween experience one to remember within the haunting ruins of Whitby Abbey. Early family performances are available from 5:30pm, with the over 18’s alternative taking place at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Ticket prices again vary, with early bird reductions also available.

Whitby Goth Weekend

One of the world’s leading Goth events, Whitby Goth Weekend brings a combination of heavy music, dark culture, specified shopping and of course food and drink. It’s the perfect way to spend both Halloween and Bonfire Night, beginning on the 31st of October and finishing on the 5th of November. With some of the darkest talents in the gothic music scene, this is a must-attend event for every metal fan, punk, biker, emo and of course Goth. Full weekend tickets are available from around £50.00, with cheaper alternatives for specific days.

Bram Stoker International Film Festival

A combination of over 30 of the best horror films of all time and recent releases, a Vampire’s Ball and fashion show, along with a range of other events stretching over 4 days, between the 25th and 28th of October makes this a perfect excuse for a long weekend away to Whitby before the winter truly sets in. 4-Day passes are still available, giving access to all events for just £100, saving you a huge £141.
