Make Your Stay In Whitby A Musical One

A look at the musical acts set to play at Whitby Pavilion this summer.

The Pavilion stage at Whitby has played host to musical acts for many years, and 2012 looks to be no exception. With so many reasons to visit and stay already, coming to Whitby to see top bands play adds another feather to Whitby’s cap.  Here are just some of the acts you can expect to see at the Pavilion this summer.

Rule The World! – Saturday 21st July

The name of this band certainly gives a clue to their performance. Rule the World are considered the UK’s number one Take That and Robbie Williams tribute act and they’ve been touring as far afield as Bahrain! Now the lads are back in the UK to bring Take That and Robbie Williams music to a seemingly ever growing audience. Perhaps the bands biggest accolade to date came from Take That singer Gary Barlow who was quoted as saying they were “brilliant” after watching a show. Expect to hear them perform songs including, The Flood, Let Me Entertain You and of course their namesake, Rule The World.

Sounds of the 60’s – Saturday 28th July

A popular draw to Whitby is the 60’s weekend, and the organisers are pushing the envelope this year with the 60’s Big Night Out. With authentic tribute acts including Billy Fury, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison to name but a few, the night promises to be one to remember.

Gimmie Abba – Saturday 4th August

One of Europe’s leading Abba tribute groups, Gimmie Abba will be running through all the well-known classics. Why not watch Mama Mia to get you in the mood for what should be a night of fun and entertainment.

Limehouse Lizzy – 21st September

Definitely one for the rockers, Limehouse Lizzy continue to fly the Thin Lizzy flag playing all there classic rock hits. Always a crowd pleaser, there shows often include loud classic guitar riffs, interspersed with pyrotechnic explosions! With the music’s seemingly endless appeal the band have been touring nonstop since 2011, which earned them the reputation and title of The UK’s Hardest Working Band, which was awarded formally by The Performing Rights Society. After Whitby the band will be continuing across the sea to perform in countries including Germany, France and Belgium.
