Description

In a yard off Whitby’s famous cobbled Church Street and a hop from the 199 Steps, you’ll love the bustle of cafes, shops, harbour and Abbey on your doorstep, and the tranquillity on sundown as the tourists depart.

Taylor’s Cottage is a Grade II Listed, two-bed holiday home furnished in incredibly good taste. Its ground floor, single room living-kitchen-diner means everything is close to hand. On the first floor is the double room and bathroom with rainfall shower. The attic twin boasts an ensuite toilet and bath.

The fresh décor, with its nod to the nautical, is everything you’d expect from a luxury-end holiday home, including all the white goods it can fit in without feeling cramped. You get WIFI, Netflix, a shared rear garden and yard out front, plus a handy outdoor store if you’re bringing bikes.

Mind, as the cottage dates from 1640, there are several steps to it and winding stairs to the upper floors. Despite no parking onsite, you’re within walking distance of Whitby train station and public parking. Shoreline’s bookable parking bay is 700m away.

The Local Area

By day, the area around Taylor’s Cottage is buoyant as tourists head to Whitby Abbey, and shops open selling Whitby Jet jewellery, homewares, fashion or food. Whitby’s west side is a stroll across the swing bridge where there’s award-winning fish and chips, boat trips and Whitby beach. Further afield we suggest Sandsend or the Cleveland Heritage Coast – there’s plenty to fill a week, never mind a long weekend.
