Description

Taylor’s Cottage is a superb Grade II Listed property in a gorgeous, sheltered yard tucked behind Whitby’s famous cobbled Church Street. Guests love the hive of nearby activity (cafes, shops, harbour and historic Abbey) and the convenience of two of Yorkshire’s best beaches just metres away.

This two-bed cottage is furnished in incredibly good taste. The fresh décor has a nod to the nautical and luxury and detail in spades. Its ground floor living-kitchen-diner is thoughtfully designed. The first floor has a double bedroom and a bathroom with a rainfall shower. The attic twin room boasts an ensuite toilet and vanity unit.

Taylor’s Cottage is everything you’d expect of a high-end holiday home with every appliance you’ll need, free WIFI (can be slowr on occasion), and a handy outdoor store for bikes. The cherry on the cake is the shared yard; it’s habitually private and a place of tranquillity in the setting sun.

Dating from 1640, this is one of Whitby’s most authentic cottages so there are several steps into it and a winding staircase to the upper floors. Book Taylor’s Cottage to be near the best attractions, Whitby train station and public parking, or book Shoreline’s parking bay only 10-minutes’ walk.

The Local Area

Hidden from Taylor’s Cottage, the nearby lanes are buoyant with tourists visiting Whitby Abbey and boutiques selling Whitby Jet, fashion and food. Take several paces to find yourself on well-kept Tate Hill Beach, alternatively Whitby’s vast sweeping beach is a stroll over the swing bridge and past the famous Whalebone Arch. Further afield we recommend a trip to Sandsend or fossil hunting at Saltwick Bay.

The beds were really comfortable - better than mine at home to be honest!

We have just returned from Taylors Cottage - had a wonderful stay and would definitely book there again. One of the best cottages we've stayed in and we go to Whitby every year.
