Description

The detached Georgian house was built in 1857 for mining entrepreneur, Sir Charles Palmer. It’s where families can converge, up to twelve guests (eight adults and four children) in four large bedrooms – two of which are ensuite. The family bedroom has two extra occasional beds and a PlayStation to keep the entertainment flowing, whilst the ground floor bedroom has an additional king-sized sofa bed.

Whilst there are four steps into Palmer’s, the two ground floor bedrooms – one with a walk-in ensuite shower room – are incredibly plush for guests with reduced mobility. If you prefer a long soak, the family bathroom boasts a freestanding copper bath, adding to the amazing décor and sense of luxury. The beautiful blend of hard floors throughout makes the house practical for dogs too.

You’ll most likely spend your time socialising at Palmer’s and the bespoke kitchen diner lends itself to group feasting. There’s plenty to please amateur chefs in the well-equipped kitchen: a Rangemaster oven, a huge fridge and separate wine fridge, and tri-fold doors to spill out onto the terrace with an outdoor dining table overlooking the sea, and a lovely walled garden. The side garden also features a superb summer house with full Wi-Fi, ideal for those needing to work while away from home in a wonderful setting.

For those who want a quiet corner, the sitting room, with a warming log burner, sea views, Smart TV and Wi-Fi awaits. A great selection of books, DVDs, jigsaws and games will keep the whole family entertained.

The Local Area

With coastal and countryside surroundings, and parking for 10 cars, you have all the space you’ll need. Scramble down to the beach or hike a couple of miles to Staithes or Runswick Bay. The Cleveland Way National Trail is right on the doorstep and brilliant for dog walks and youngsters. For good food, we like the Badger and Hounds, a 10-minute stroll, or The Ellerby Hotel and its lovely garden.

From the booking through shoreline to the quality of the cottage - our experience has been brilliant. We have used shoreline 3 times now and won’t hesitate to use them again

An outstanding property, our 4th visit there, which has become a bit of a home-from-home for us. Dog friendly, it has 4 double bedrooms. The kitchen is my favourite room. As someone who enjoys cooking, it has everything a cook might need to make any meal. It has an amazing outside Summerhouse. Restaurant No. 20, is in walking distance & is ideal for a very good meal. Palmers is just off the coastal path between Staithes & Runswick Bay - both really lovely walks from the doorstep. Highly recommend.

A perfect position away from it all but close enough to explore the surrounding area on foot or by car. A comfortable home to return to with space for everyone.
